Effects that may be used are as follows:
zoom - to increase visual of characters face or location
Gray scale - to show flashbacks
Film grain/age - when the alter ego appears
Hue - as it creates a nice effect
Transistions that could be used are as follows:
cut
dissolve
wipe
camera pans
fade in/out
pixelate
shapes expand from centre of screen
